All events are free, but registration is required for some activities and is available through their online calendar or the appropriate branch unless otherwise indicated.

Cookbook Challenge for home cooks, amateur bakers, and wannabe chefs!
Ages 18+ can learn to cook, improve skills, or show off your kitchen talent in our culinary book club. Each month we will each choose a recipe from the designated cookbook. The following month, participants bring their cooked dish back for everyone to sample. Main: Jun 8@6 pm. Registration required.

Seussville fun
Oh, the things that are possible to achieve! Build a house out of green eggs and bacon, stack turtle towers, and more. DS/Wkr: Jun 15@6 pm; Main: Jun 27@2 pm.

Spingineering creations
Ages 8-11 can learn to make simple twirling motors from batteries, colorful paper spinning tops, and whirligigs. DS/Wkr: Jun 8@2 pm; June 13@5:30 pm; Main: Jun 15@2 pm; South: Jun 29@2 pm.
Make a patriotic rag wreath
Ages 18+ celebrate U.S. Independence by creating a festive patriotic rag wreath at this workshop. Fabric provided but you are encouraged to bring your own as well. Alb/Spf: Jun 13@6 pm; South: Jun 17@10:30 am; Main: Jun 23@11 am; DS/Wkr: Jun 28@10 am.

Create edible animation and a film festival
Ages 12-18 learn to easily create and share stop-motion animation videos with the use of candy and a mini green screen studio. Enjoy a film festival style viewing of the work afterward. Award for “Best Picture” given. DS/Wkr: Jun 20@2 pm.

Bad art night contest
Ages 18+ are invited to make BAD ART. Crazy art materials provided. You create the bad art. The best/worst bad art will win the contest. Main: Jun 22@6 pm; DS/Wkr: Jun 27@6 pm.

Build a LEGO global city
Ages 5-11 can learn about urban planning and help build a LEGO city and find out if it can withstand an earthquake. Watson: Jun 22@5:30.

Make your own DIY phone projector
Not satisfied with the size of your phone screen or wish you could make a movie theater anywhere? Make your own DIY Phone Projector that will shine your favorite videos on any wall. DS/Wkr: Jun 27@2 pm; Alb/Spf: Jun 15@2 pm.
Make a paperscapes lantern
Ages 12-18 create a custom ‘paper scape’ lantern that works. Then receive your first clue in our paper chase. Follow the clues to be the first to discover the prizes. Alb/Spf: Jun 8@2 pm; Watson: Jun 29@5:30 pm.

Grab your family members for Family Feud
Does your family have what it takes to win? Create a family team and register to go head to head with other library families. Main: Jun 8@6 pm.

Baton Rouge Playmakers entertain
When a group of friendly curious aliens land on Earth, they want to learn what it takes to create a more positive society. Experimenting, they discover the building blocks for a better world start with us. A family-friendly show for all ages. DIY Tie Dye
Ages 5-11 join us for Tie-Dye fun – the classic summer activity, now with a twist: we will be dying bags using various colors of drink mix. Tote bags provided, but feel free to bring your own t-shirt or other piece of cloth made of natural, washable fabrics (such as cotton). South: Jun 14@2 pm.

Baton Rouge Youth presents classical ballet
Ballet Soirée is a celebration of the beauty of dance with excerpts from the classical ballets of old to the neo-classical works of today. DS/Wkr: Jun 15@10 am.

Drama Camp for kids
Ages 12-18 develop stage skills during a six-week acting class. No previous acting experience required. South: Jun 19 & 26@2 pm.

Magician David LeBoeuf Magic Show & Workshop

Teen Disney Ball

LEGO meets Edison robots
