Christmas open house, plantation style

The public is invited to a Plantation Christmas Open House at the Carter House in Spring eld. The house will be decorated for Christmas in styles from the past to the present and will be open for tours on Sun- day, Dec. 10 and Sunday, Dec. 17, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on both days. The house was built between 1817- 1820 and has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1979. The tour, complete with history of the plantation and those who lived there, is perfect for children, parents, grandparents and groups of all ages. The only plantation still standing in Living- ston Parish will have each room decorated in holiday styles from the past to the present, and Santa will be there! Tickets will be sold at the door for $5.00/ person, $10.00/family. Children under 12, as well as HCHS members, are admitted free. Tickets will be entered in a drawing for a door prize. Proceeds will go toward restoration work and wood damage repairs to the properties. “Joy to the World” Nativity to be presented Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will host its First Annual “Joy to the World” Nativity Community Celebration on Dec. 1-2. Congregations of the church at 25367 Riverton Drive, Denham Springs, invite the public to celebrate the birth of Jesus through a free Nativity displays and musical performances of Christian music, both vocal and instrumental. The Nativity will be presented Dec. 1, 5-8 p.m., and Dec. 2, noon-6 p.m.. Fifteen musical organizations are scheduled to give 30-minute performances over the two- day event. The City of Central presents 2nd annual Christmas in Central Square

This year’s Christmas in Central Square is going to be bigger and better with awesome attractions to kick off the official City of Central Christmas light display. Activities include ice skating, slide down Snowzilla Jr, real sneaux for the little ones, carousel rides, Polar Express train rides, photos with the snow princesses, games and s’mores by BREC, and a live nativity presented by Life Church. This year we are cutting down on the lines by offering horse & carriage and horse & wagon rides. Don’t forget!

Santa arrives by fire truck to take photos with the kids! Entertainment includes live performances by Charles Brooks the Jazz Vibraphonist and the Jazz Trio performing Christmas carols. Shuttles will be running throughout the night to bring people to and from the event.

Note that the whole square will be closed to traffic; roads will be closed right before the entrance to Central Buffett. Parking will be located in the Walmart parking lot and the parking lot in the shopping center across the street (where the Nagoya, Caliente, Jack in the Box, etc. is located).
