“Connecting to Success” Student Conference
The Livingston Parish Chamber hosted a “Connecting to Success” student business conference Dec. 1 at Carter Plantation in Springfield for students from Albany and Maurepas High Schools. The conference helped prepare high school juniors with skills needed to enter the workforce. Students who attended had the opportunity to sit with business leaders from the local community and hear insights into different career paths. The student business conference is a joint project of the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement and sponsoring business partners. Business of the Year deadlines announced
Business of the Year nominations are being accepted through Dec. 8 . Chamber members are encouraged to nominate peer business or their own business for Business of the Year Awards. The awards program is designed to celebrate outstanding Livingston Parish businesses and their impact to both the economy and community. All nominated businesses must return completed Business Overview applications by close of business on December 21. See website for details.
22nd Annual Golf Outing winners
The 22nd Annual Golf Outing in October was a “Spooktacular” good time! Team GMFS took home rst place, Kent’s Companies nished sec- ond, and State Farm/Byron Gill nished third. Other winners include: putting contest – Chris Husser; closest to pin – Jimmy Durbin; and longest drive – Betsy McDowell. Also, food contest – Stewart Family Medicine; tent decor – Essential Federal Credit Union; and best “Witch’s Brew” – Quality Engineering & Surveying. Shop Small Business Christmas Campaign this fall
The Zachary Chamber is asking the community to support the Shop Small Business which promotes local businesses. Shop participating businesses for prizes, special holiday sales and discounts. Businesses are identified by banners and stickers on windows and doors.
CC’s Coffee House holds groundbreaking ceremony
A groundbreaking ceremony for CC’s Coffee House was held Oct. 31 for the new CC’s Coffee House coming to Zachary. John Stagg, owner and CEO of the franchise company, J BArista, LLC, stated that the new Zachary CC’s Coffee House at 19560 Old Scenic Highway, will be under construction throughout the remaining fall months with the opening scheduled for early 2018. The coffee house is located on the east side of Old Scenic Highway near Copper Mill and First South Family Credit. Stagg stated that CC’s Coffee House will be part of several future CC’s Coffee House locations planned for southeast Louisiana.
“Chamber Chelsea” making holiday visits
Chamber Chelsea can be founding visit several member businesses this holiday season through Dec. 19. Each week Chamber Chelsea will be at a different business. First person to and her and take a selfie with her will choose which business they want her placed at next. That business will stage her and submit a picture and clue and will be spotlighted that week in The Buzz. This will continue until December 19th. She is already making a mess at her first location that used to be a bank, so go and her!
