Kathy Maust named Livingston Parish Chamber Ambassador of the Year
Each year, the Livingston Parish Chamber recognizes one ambassador in appreciation of their contributions to the ambassador program. Kathy Maust, of Supreme Realtors, received the 2017 honor.
“We are so pleased to recognize Kathy’s dedication to the chamber. She consistently makes herself available to support fellow members – whether she is attending ribbon cuttings, engaging new members, or sharing news about chamber initiatives. Her genuine enthusiasm for helping others and promoting business and community is the essence of the ambassador role,” said Chamber President April Wehrs.
The ambassador program is comprised of experienced chamber members who are eager to help other professionals navigate the many opportunities available through chamber affiliation. Ambassadors mentor new and existing members, facilitate connections, engage the community, spread the word about events and programs, and encourage members to maximize their chamber experience.
“I was very surprised and honored to receive this award,” Maust said of her recognition, adding that the ambassadors work as a team, and any one of her fellow ambassadors would have been deserving of the honor. “The chamber is the cornerstone of the community, and I’m so proud to have the opportunity to be involved with the organization. I’ve been a member since 2006, and I can’t imagine not being a part of the chamber,” said Maust.

chamber2Albany and Maurepas High Schools participate in Student Career Conference
The Chamber, in conjunction with Livingston Parish Public Schools, hosted on Dec. 1 “Connecting to Success,” a student business conference for Maurepas and Albany High School Juniors. Held at Carter Plantation in Springfield, Schools Supt. Rick Wentzel provided the event’s opening address and Michele Sutton, CEO of North Oaks, wrapped up the conference with closing remarks.
85 students attended break-out sessions for skill development in a variety of areas including the following: working in teams, communicating personal value, creating a resume, interviewing for a job, and professional and ethical behavior in the workplace.
The day was highlighted with students having the opportunity to have round table discussions with business leaders from diverse fields and ask industry-related questions. The event, which was geared toward helping students become job-ready and career-focused, encouraged attendees to pursue advanced training in technical skill areas and/or to attend college.
